Massa d'Or
Massa d'Or is a small island off the Cap de Creus, the most easterly point of the Iberian Penninsular. The island is also know as Sa Rata, "the rat" which its silhouette resembles. With depths of 50 metres and unpredictable currents, it is not a site for novice divers. The sea around this area can be exceptionally clear and is home to a number of giant groupers which lay claim to their caves. According to one local diver one such fish has lived in the same cave for some years now.
Although not a dive for the novice, as currents can be extreme and appear suddenly, the dive is interesting to those with more experience. The bottom has many large boulders and small caves and is full of marine life; you can sometimes see hundreds of bream and barracudas at a time.
